The Hofburg New Year's Eve Ball
Vienna rings in the year in the imperial palace — dinner, the opening polonaise and a waltz at midnight. It is also the evening that opens the city's ball season, all the way to the Opera Ball in February.
The dress code
Full-length ball gown
The first night of the Viennese ball season, and it follows ball rules: floor-length gowns, trains welcome, room to waltz. Gloves are a graceful option.
To be ready in time
